Our Studio
Our academy is located on m Myrtle Ave which makes the school easily accessablte to everyone no matter what part of town you live in . The "Center for the Arts" opened in 2007 and has trained many El Pasoans sinice it's inception.
Our Philosophy
To train, teach, and live the Art of Capoeira in the style and tradition of Mestre Bimba while being careful to be excellent at all forms of the art while staying relevant to the ever evolving art form of Capoeira that has gone all over the world. We believe tradition and history is just as important as movements and grace. We also feel that the soul of the Capoeira movements is in the music and so we take time in each class to perfect and purify our musical talents as well as our physical talents. The belief that Capoeira can and does make people better in all aspects is the reason we train and hope to infect the world with the love of this art.

MESTRE ACORDEON
Ubirajara Almeida, student of legendary Mestre Bimba, is an author, unmatched musician, and historian. One of the pioneers to bring Capoeira to the western United States in early 1980's. Today Mestre Acordeon has established the United Capoeira Association with schools in numerous states and Mexico.

PROFESOR ANIMAL
Eduardo Galvan started training Capoeira in Tucson AZ under Contra Mestre Enxu over 15 years ago. With unmatched energy and determination he earned the name ANIMAL and has mentored schools throughout the southwest under the name of 'Quinto Sol' . His Juarez school is the only Capoeira academy to brave the challenges of the infamous border city. The El Paso branch became a non-profit organization in 2007 and his Las Cruces branch boasts over 40 students.
VAGA LUME (Student Teacher)
Jon-Michael Blowe has been training capoeira for five years and has been given the honor of guiding the El Paso branch of Quinto Sol. He earned the nickname Vaga Lume (firefly) for his illuminating smile and he attempts to engrain the words, talents, and knowledge of his teachers into every person that visits the academy.
Classes
During the class we spend time conditioning and stretching before we get into the technical aspects of the jogo (game). At the end of every class we focus on the musical and historical aspects of Capoeira. All levels are welcome at every class but be aware the we set aside time for beginners specifically on Mondays.
If you have played Capoeira before we believe that you will find every class different and challenging. If you have never played Capoeira don't worry, we take special time for beginners. Just come to a Monday class in something you can move around in, the first few Monday classes are free.
Our Schedule:
Monday - Wednesday 6:30-8:30pm
Saturdays 12-2pm
Newbie Class is Mondays from 6:30-7:30pm . If you have never played Capoeira before this is the free class you need to attend. We will focus on grass roots basics and give you the tools you will need to be able to jump into the regular classes and be able to hang.
Our Samba class focuses on basic musical components and the base rhythms of Samba. Our goal is to eventually get every person proficient at every instrument in the samba drumline.
Samba classes are every Thursday from 7:30-9:00pm.
Samba dance classes will be available as soon as we find a teacher know one?
Capoiera Quinto Sol shares our space with GoHard Boxing. All our members are welcome to train with the "GoHard" group free of charge and vice-versa. You can find a training schedule and more information at www.gohardboxing.com .

The best way to our school is to take I-10 and exit piedras. Once you get to Piedras street go south (toward Mexico) and veer right at the top of the bridge toward Texas street. Go straight on Texas go straight for 3 blocks and turn left on Eucalyptus Street and park your car. We are on the corner of Eucalyptus and Myrtle in a big red brick building that has a sign that says "Coronado Consultants" over the door.

What to expect
Our performances vary from 5mins to 1hour. We demonstrate the playing of traditioinal Brazilian instuments while showcasing both Angola and Regional forms of Capoeira.
